Changes to the U.S. Form I-9 List B Document Expiration Date Field

The Expiration Date field is no longer a mandatory field for some of the List B Documents used in Section 2 of the U.S. Form I-9.

This change applies to the following List B Documents:

  • Government ID card
  • School ID card
  • Voters Registration card
  • Individuals under age 18
  • Special Placement
  • U.S. Military ID card
  • U.S. Military Draft Record
  • U.S. Military Dependent ID card

This change applies to the following List B Documents:

  • Native American Tribal Document
  • Clinic record
  • Doctor record
  • Hospital record
  • Daycare record
  • School record
  • School report card
  • Nursery school record

Receipts for replacement of any of the documents listed above

SAP has made these fields optional to align with the Department of Homeland Security’s requirements for these fields.

WHAT’S CHANGED:

In the current version, the Expiration Date field is an optional field for some of the List B Documents used in Section 2 of the U.S. Form I-9.
